Email addresses (aliases)
It is often useful to use several email addresses: one for each area of
responsibility in your business.
For example: you could have a
sales@mydomain.co.za to deal with sales enquiries, and a
info@mydomain.co.za to deal with
general enquiries...or even just use a temporary email address like
competition@mydomain.co.za so
that you can discard the email address when it's no longer needed.
Many people prefer to use an email address for newsletter subscriptions,
another for personal email, and so on.
(As a further benefit, you can also designate any email address as an "auto
responder" so that any email that arrives for that address is "answered"
automatically by the mail server, but more about that in another article.)
How email addresses (aliases) work
You have one login account (the one you use to retrieve your email), but this
one account may have several email addresses attached to it. Email to any
of these addresses ("aliases") are delivered into the inbox that belongs to your
login account.
A real world example would be a private box at the post office: The first
line of address on the letter: "Mr AN Other" or "Mrs J Doe" does not matter, as
long as the second line is "PO Box 007". Regardless of who the letter is
addressed too, the post office will still deliver it to PO Box 007.
Only you (the owner of the post box) have a key for the box, and, when you
unlock it, you will have access to all the letters addressed to that box.
Email aliases work in the same way: You have one inbox for your login
account, but you can set up several addresses for that inbox.
How to set-up email addresses
You can create up to 35 email addresses (aliases) for your account - this
gives you a lot of freedom to organize your email into more manageable chunks.
To set up your addresses, go to
http://www.cozahost.com/support
Click on the email addresses link and log in. (Remember that your email
addresses are "linked" to your login account)
To add an email address, type the address you require and press "Add".
To remove an email address, click on the "Delete" link next to the address.
