Creating an Email Forwarder

An Email Forwarder can also be referred to as an "Alias". Here are a couple of possible meanings / interpretations of the word "Alias" according to Google:

- Another name for an existing user's address
-An assumed or additional name that a person has used or is known by
- An alternative name that can be used instead of the primary name
- Another name by which a person is known
- An American SpyFi television series, created by J. J. Abrams

Basically, an Email Forwarder, or email alias, is an additional address for the same person or e-mail user. (Eg. john@domain.co.za ; johndoe@domain.co.za )
 

Login to your Control Panel: http://<yourdomain>
(Replace <yourdomain> with your domain name)

Step 2: Go to your Domain

Click on "Domains" and then on the domain where you would like to create a new Email Forwarder

Step 3: Click "Email Forwarding"

Click on the "Email Forwarding" icon

Step 4: Add new email forwarder

Create a new address clicking the "Add new" button.  Type the new email address, followed by the address where emails should be forwarded.
 

1 - You are the only member of a domain, but need more than one email address @domain.co.za.

Let's take the following scenario, John has a company and recently registered domain.co.za for his business.  He needs the following email addresses: sales@domain.co.za ; info@domain.co.za ; john@domain.co.za ; jdoe@domain.co.za

Instead of creating a separate mailbox for each of these addresses, it's a lot more efficient to create 1 mailbox called: john@domain.co.za and then have all the other addresses forward to this mailbox.

2 - Temporary email address (promotions, temp appointment, etc).

John is running a promotion on T-shirts and needs a temporary address called tshirt@domain.co.za forwarding to his marketing director's address: mark@domain.co.za

3 - Save email accounts on server.

You only have x number of email accounts / users available on your hosting package, but need multiple addresses for each of these users.

4 - Link to external email addresses.

John needs to have his admin@domain.co.za address forward to his accountant's address: andrew@yahoo.com
 

Q: Error: "An email account with the same address already exists."
A: The Email Forwarder you are trying to configure, already exists on the server as either:  An existing Email Forwarder / Multi Recipient Address
A POP3 Email Account.  You will have to delete the existing address.

Q: After creating the Email Forwarder, the messages are not being delivered.
A: Check the spelling of your Email Forwarder and the Address where it's forwarding.
